In Residence: Youngsup Han
We are delighted to announce that acclaimed South Korean artist Youngsup Han has joined Olyaa Gallery as our artist in residence.
Youngsup Han's artistic journey spans over five decades, during which he has developed a unique visual language that bridges Eastern philosophy with contemporary aesthetics. His works, ranging from large-scale paintings to sculptural installations, brilliantly capture the essence of natural phenomena. They have been exhibited internationally and are held in prestigious museums and collections around the world.
Han’s “Echoes of Nature” exhibition highlights his innovative techniques, including his use of hanji (traditional Korean paper) and natural pigments. These materials, combined with his signature "tapping" method — an evolution of the ancient rubbing technique — create textures and forms that evoke the raw beauty of nature.
Visitors will experience a taste of Han's extensive catalogue, including recent works inspired by his travels across the United States. These new creations demonstrate the artist's ability to find common ground across diverse landscapes, from rural Korean settings to the metropolis of Manhattan.
